ivy-leaved toadflax,
\nsnapdragon\u2019d purple<\/p>\n

everywhere there\u2019s evidence,
\nin the rhizomes of yellow flag<\/p>\n

beneath the windflower\u2019s white
\nand winestained petals<\/p>\n

in the upturned soil of mole hills,
\ndead badgers, scoured wind<\/p>\n

broken bottles, scorched
\nstones on the beach, torn trees.<\/p>\n

Everywhere there\u2019s
\nevidence, in the silence<\/p>\n

of clouds, sour-appled
\ntang of wood sorrel<\/p>\n

variety of green,
\nblue of Scot\u2019s pine<\/p>\n

yellow spectrum\u2019d
\nDog mercury,<\/p>\n

olive green of ivy,
\n\u2018no no noh\u2019<\/p>\n

of a sea bird on the sands.
\nThere\u2019s evidence everywhere.<\/p>\n

In the shade of a rock –
\n\u2018Dot and Bert\u2019 painted on it<\/p>\n

in the scurry of a fieldmouse
\nflame red of the sun, in<\/p>\n

dawn above Ingleborough
\nevidence everywhere<\/p>\n

in the reverence of flowers
\nplaced by the roadside<\/p>\n

where a man gave his life
\nfor his son last summer<\/p>\n

evidence, everywhere,
\nin the gold domed Buddhist temple<\/p>\n

faces of shoppers
\nin town on market day<\/p>\n

sometimes smiling,
\nsometimes crumpled<\/p>\n

by an inner life
\ntheir skin and eyes<\/p>\n

reflect.<\/p>\n
