Tibetan jumping spiders
\nattach safety strand to rock
\nbefore jumping
\njust in case
\nbecause it’s a long fall world up there
\nand there’s no prey down here.<\/p>\n

Irish spiders glue strand to this side
\nthen leap for that side
\nknowing too far
\nbut count on breeze
\nto blow them over;
\nif not they climb back up
\nand leap and climb and leap and climb
\nuntil on other side.<\/p>\n

I climb through karma life to life
\nmake new knots of old oughts
\nwhile dealing with this plot
\nmistaking me for my shadow.<\/p>\n

Got no safety web
\nno wrapped supply of fly
\nbut I do court the blessing breeze
\nto lift me up and over.<\/p>\n
