Anchors Away ~ KE

he seems showy

at first to most

people

flashing his

bright red

color for the

world to

admire

he appears to

prance and

preen shake his

tail feathers if

you will but

he cannot help

who he appears to

be

he did not

come into being

knowing he

could be spotted

almost any

where as his

wares wear on

him

he sat on the

roof next door on

easter sun

day and

he looked at me

with his

dark eyes

and said hope

fully some

day

he was around

all that spring cracking

sun

flower seeds with

his gorgeous orange

beak or he

would be in a

tree

singing his song

only for

me

he went away

over the summer and

i mourned to

not see him in

the morn the

tears

ran down my face

tearing my

heart in two

into

pieces

he appeared again

a few weeks

ago

after being on

the go

go go go

now some mornings i

open my eyes and

there he is in

the tree i can see

can i see?

he isn’t saying

he eats and

he sings and

sits on his perch and

he stares back at

me
